Episode 9: Show Notes and Highlights

I share my thoughts after seeing the theatrical release of Björk's "biophilia live." Unfamiliar with biophilia? Here is an excellent primer from Björk:

I played two tunes that, for me, resonate "fall" in a nostalgic, wistful, and musical way:

  • Pat Metheny Group playing San Lorenzo. Though not played during the broadcast, the other classic from the same album, Phase Dance--it too says "fall" to me. Since Weather Report is firmly in the mix (see above), here is the Pat Metheny Group (same album and time period) playing the tune named after the Weather Report bass player, Jaco Pastorius.

Brain Pickings featured an extensive post about Bill Evans' documentary, "The Universal Mind of Bill Evans." You can watch the documentary in parts at Open Culture. I highly recommend watching this documentary. It is a rare window into the mind and creative process of a true jazz legend.
