Alloy: Episode 123

Time (playlist #123)

"" by gbmediadesign

In the two weeks since the last live broadcast, a bucketload of excellent new music found its way to my ears. In listening, organizing, and thinking about the music associated with this week's show, I was struck by the temporal aspect of music, and how the musical moments—the movements—of a work or compostion change across time. Listen to this week's playlist and notice how many of the tracks change from moment to moment—some filling moments of time with arpeggiated melody lines and percussive/driving rhythms, while others are comfortable exploring open space within time by not filling every moment with sound. Like a novel with numerous plot twists, this week's music explored the unexpected and displayed a rich variety of sounds and textures across time.

Finally, don't forget that you can listen to all of the music from the last episode, “Déjà Vu” (click here). This week's artwork by yours truly yours truly is titled, "temporal fabric."

Thanks for listening!
