Alloy: Episode 101

Of Horns and History (Playlist #101)

The Duke

This week’s Alloy live broadcast centered around big band. I spoke “live in the studio” with Dickinson music faculty member, Jeffrey Wohlbach. Jeffrey will lead the Dickinson College Jazz Ensemble in a concert on December 2nd in Dickinson’s Rubendahl Hall in Weiss Center for the Arts. Jeffrey and I talked about and played much of the music the Ensemble will be featuring as part of their upcoming performance Jeffrey has been an Alloy in-studio guest in the past and it is always a special treat to talk with him. HIs knowledge of big band history provided the perfect context for understanding and appreciating the music, big band history, and much much more. Thanks Jeffrey!

Also, don't forget that you can listen to all of the music from the last episode, “Soundbreaking” from the comfort of your browser (click here). This week's artwork, “The Duke” is a slightly reworked version by yours truly of a photo by Hans Bernhard.
