In addition to the new music and artists featured in the picture above, I played a fusion classic, "Punk Jazz" from Weather Report's 1978 release, "Mr. Gone," an album that when it was released received a fairly scathing (and legendary) one-star review from Downbeat magazine--the center of gravity as far as jazz music was concerned in the 70s. I shared my thoughts about this review, its reception and rebuttal by Weather Report keyboardist, Joe Zawinul, and talked a bit about how the music review process has changed in the age of web publications and distributed/fan reviews.
